Stonemark Overward

The Overward of Stonemark is a small independent state between the nations of Mekinor to the north and west, Naydor to the east, and the nomadic tribes of Uskaa to the South. Although the people have much in common with those of Naydor (including a passion for Naydorian Chess), the Overward is tied by treaty with Mekinor. In return for defending against the warlike Uskans, and providing troops to serve in the Mekinor armies, Mekinor provides payment in gold and silver.

In turn this flow of wealth drives a prosperous trade with both Mekinor and Naydor. Besides its sons who go for mercenaries, the Overward has two main exports, war-horses and battle-iron. The horses bred and trained for battle by the horse-masters of Stonemark are prized far and wide as are the forgings of the metal-masters: plate armour; chainmail; shields and axes; swords and spears.

But the fame of its battle-mounts and the value of its battle-gear are outshone by the reknown of the Stonemark warriors. Songs are sung and stories told from central sea to farmost islands; and legends are fashioned from their deeds and fighting prowess. Foremost in these legends stands the royal company, the Storm Eagles of Stonemark.
